Phrasal verbs
Английские фразовые глаголы (Phrasalverbs) – это идиоматические выражения, объединяющие глаголы и предлоги, глаголы и наречия, либо одновременно глаголы и предлоги с наречиями. Таким образом, они образовывают новые глаголы, чье значение не всегда можно понять, посмотрев каждое слово фразового глагола в словаре. Фразовые глаголы постоянно используются как в устной речи, так и на письме. Предлог в составе фразового глагола определяет или изменяет глагол, к которому относится.
e.g. I get up at seven o’clock.
The plane took off.
Некоторые фразовые глаголы могут иметь несколько разных значений.
e.g. Plane took off.
She took off her shoes.
Фразовые глаголы делятся на несколько групп.
- Непереходные – используются без прямого дополнения
e.g. to wake up, to sit down
- Переходные – требуют после себя прямое дополнение
e.g. to turn on something, to pick up something
А также на
- разделяемые – это те, в которых дополнение может разделить глагол и частицу.
Если в роли дополнения выступает существительное, то оно может ставиться между глаголом и частицей или после частицы.
e.g. Can you pick up that toy?
Can you pick that toy up?
Если в роле дополнения выступает местоимение, то его можно поставить только между глаголом и частицей.
e.g. Can you pick it up?
- Неразделяемые – это те, в которых глагол и частица разделяться не могут и поэтому дополнение всегда ставится после частицы.
e.g. We had to look after her cats.
